Indianola Informal K-8 School recently wrapped up a school-wide expeditionary project that turned the campus hallways into a student-curated museum of local Ohio historical landmarks. The school is honoring its latest “Inquiry Scholars” - students who have been recognized for their stellar research skills and commitment to quality academic presentations. The campus has also recently teamed up with a regional history center to offer students exclusive behind-the-scenes workshops and field trips.
Q1. What is the “Informal Education” model? What does Indianola Informal K-8 School offer students?
Ans. The model is based on child-initiated inquiry and multi-age classrooms where children learn on a daily basis through discovery and cooperative exploration projects.
Q2. Does the Indianola Informal K-8 School have any special programs for students interested in environmental conservation?
Ans. Our student-run “Eco-Informal” club organizes campus recycling and gardening initiatives to support local Ohio nature conservation.
Q3. How does Indianola Informal K-8 School get students involved in theatrical performance?
Ans. We host seasonal showcases of acting and stagecraft with students culminating in a full production of a combination of drama and research.
Q4. How Does Indianola Informal K-8 School Engage Families in Setting Academic Goals Each School Semester?
Ans. We have “Heritage Dinners” where teachers and parents work together to create individualized plans for students’ social and academic success.
Q5. Does the Indianola Informal K-8 School campus offer student leadership opportunities like student council?
Ans. Older students can also join the leadership team to help plan spirit weeks and run campuswide recycling and beautification programs.
