Being Updated
Duxberry Park Alternative Elementary School recently celebrated the grand opening of its refurbished “Arts & Inquiry” garden, a beautiful outdoor space for students to connect and learn. The campus choir was featured in a special performance at the garden’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, which included several local Columbus community leaders. The school is also bringing back its Junior Police Academy in 2026 to give students practical experiences in teamwork and service.
Q1. How is the “Arts & Inquiry” theme of Duxberry Park integrated into regular daily math and science instruction?
Ans. Students often use sketching and dramatic role-play to bring complex academic theories to life and greatly increase the hands-on and memorable nature of their day-to-day learning.
Q2. At Duxberry Park Alternative, is there any special support for students coming from other districts?
Ans. Our Duxberry Diplomats program connects new students with a peer mentor to help them navigate our unique campus traditions and vibrant school culture.
Q3. What kind of hands-on science activities are provided in the Duxberry Park discovery centers?
Ans. Kids turn the campus into a living laboratory for exploration, using tactile learning stations to do biology experiments and study local plant life.
Q4. How are local Ohio artists incorporated into the annual student theatrical productions at Duxberry Park?
Ans. We collaborate with local performers who visit our classrooms to teach students about stagecraft and prepare them for their final spring musical.
Q5. Can Duxberry Park parents volunteer to join a “Green Team” for campus gardening projects?
Ans. Yes, parents are encouraged to help us maintain our school garden, which provides a beautiful outdoor space for quiet study and research for students.
