Columbus Humanities Arts and Technology Academy recently celebrated a big boost to its tech integration program, giving students 1:1 digital devices daily. The school is spotlighting its successful “Creative Leadership” program, which allows students to participate in decision-making about the school and in planning spirit events. The campus also hosted a ribbon cutting for its recently updated “Innovation Lab,” which will be used to support advanced STEM projects.

Q1. In what way does the CHATA campus art gallery exhibit student-led digital media projects to visitors?

Ans. We have digital screens and physical displays in our hallways where students can show their graphic design and traditional painting work for all to see.

Q2. What was the most innovative prototype at this year’s CHATA “Innovation Convention”?

Ans. One student created a “Smart Recycler” that showed the amazing creativity and engineering talent our students build on every day in our tech labs.

Q3. Are students at CHATA offered special opportunities for theatrical performance each year?

Ans. Students attend workshops on acting and stagecraft and culminate in a full-fledged production that combines drama and digital technology for the community to watch.

Q4. How does CHATA recognize the creative work of its “Artist of the Month” honorees?

Ans. The school newsletter features the winners and invites them to conduct a small creative workshop for their peers during recess sessions.

Q5. What leadership skills are taught to older students in the CHATA “Global Ambassadors” club?

Ans. Students learn to facilitate multicultural events and to serve as peer mentors for new students coming to our school from other countries.
