Being Updated
Robinson Elementary School’s third- and fifth-grade students visited the construction site of Lincoln’s new 98th Street Water Transmission Main Project in October 2025. They learned about how water infrastructure is engineered and maintained. Students also had the chance to sign their names on a section of the pipeline before it was placed underground.
Q1. How does Robinson introduce early exploration of push-and-pull strength?
Ans. Students compare how different forces change the speed or distance an object moves, using hands-on tests.
Q2. How does the school support recognition of figurative language in simple texts?
Ans. Teachers point out expressions like “as quiet as a mouse,” helping students understand non-literal meanings.
Q3. What routines help students monitor personal workspace boundaries?
Ans. Students learn to keep materials inside desk mats or tray areas so shared spaces remain uncluttered.
Q4. How does Robinson teach students to distinguish between major and minor story events?
Ans. Students sort events into those that drive the plot forward and those that provide small details.
Q5. How does the school guide students in understanding simple energy-saving habits?
Ans. Students practice actions such as shutting classroom doors, unplugging unused items and turning off lights.
