McPhee Elementary School announced that special education teacher Lisa Ryba received the Golden Apple Award in September 2025. She was recognized for her meaningful impact on students and her commitment to building empathy and belonging. The school community celebrated her dedication and contributions.
Q1. How does McPhee help students learn how to locate problems and solutions in texts that provide information?
Ans. Teachers help students locate parts of the text that talk about a problem and then write down how the text suggests solving it.
Q2. How does the school encourage students to contemplate how surfaces affect motion?
Ans. Students roll things on smooth, rough, or slanted surfaces to see how friction affects how they move.
Q3. What do students do to help each other when they use shared classroom labeling tools?
Ans. Students obey the rules for signing out and put markers or stickers back in the right trays to keep things in order.
Q4. How does McPhee help people understand their roles in schools?
Ans. Students learn how each staff member helps the school run and why each job is important.
Q5. How does the school help students keep track of the steps in their multi-week projects?
Ans. Students use simple progress charts to record what they've done and what they still need to do. This helps them learn how to plan.
