Being Updated
Maxey Elementary School received 24 new Strider bikes in October 2025 through a donation from a local motorcycle company and the All Kids Bike program. Kindergarten students are using the balance-to-pedal bikes in P.E. to practice bike and helmet safety. The school emphasized that these skills support lifelong confidence and independence.
Q1. How does Maxey start to compare how energy moves through touch?
Ans. During science activities, students touch warm and cool objects to observe how heat transfers between different materials.
Q2. How does the school help students become better at finding text features that help them navigate around, like sidebars?
Ans. Teachers help students identify and understand sidebars that give them more information that is related to the main text.
Q3. What do students do to become ready for partner read-aloud practice?
Ans. Before they start, students obtain their books, pick their seats, and go over their reading roles.
Q4. How does Maxey help students put animals into groups based on what they can see?
Ans. To help students learn how to classify things, they sort animals by things like how they move or what they look like.
Q5: How does the school help students learn to use the class charts?
Ans. Teachers often refer to posted steps so that students can learn how to follow routines on their own.
