Being Updated
Beattie Elementary School’s PTO and community successfully raised funds for new playground equipment. Students are currently voting on the color design as part of the planning process. Installation of the new equipment is scheduled for summer 2026.
Q1. How does Beattie help students see how things fit together in their daily lives?
Ans. Students learn how routines follow a set order by practicing putting pictures of classroom tasks in order.
Q2. How does the school get kids to compare the textures of things early on?
Ans. As part of their science observation work, students look at things like fabric, wood, and plastic and talk about how rough or smooth they are.
Q3. What do students do during whole-group floor time to help them?
Ans. Teachers use assigned sitting spots, quiet signals, and reminder cues to keep students focused during group lessons.
Q4. How does Beattie show students how to find signal phrases in directions?
Ans. Students learn to look for words like "start," "then," and "finally" so they can better follow instructions that have more than one step.
Q5. How does the school make sure that students know about noise zones in the classroom?
Ans. Students can see which activities need quiet, partner, or group voices on visual charts, which helps them choose the right volume.
