Being Updated
The Pickett Elementary School is almost done with a project to improve the pavement that was paid for by the district's 2022 bond measure. The improvements at Pickett and two other schools include wider walkways, better access and safer ways to get to the school building and the bus stops. Officials from the district say that the work is 95% done and that only small landscaping jobs are left. The operations manager said, "People are very happy. They think it's a nice, safe place to go because it's new and not bumpy." During a community preview, families were invited to walk the new paths. People now see what started as an infrastructure project as a way to make schools safer and boost school pride.
