Recent news has brought to light an exciting accomplishment: The state gave Thurgood Marshall Elementary School the 2024 Recognition School Award for Excellence in Serving Special Populations. This award shows how dedicated the school is to providing quality services and resources for all students, regardless of their learning needs. Other regular news includes community health events, like lead and dental screenings for students on site, and changes to the school calendar.
Q1. What kinds of programs are there at Thurgood Marshall Elementary School before and after school?
Ans. The school does work with community providers to offer an Enrichment Program with classes in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Most days, classes after school start around 2:35 pm and last between 60 and 120 minutes.
Q2. How can kids get care during the summer or after school?
Ans. A local provider runs a summer "Kids Camp" program at the school. There are options for extended care from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Q3. Besides core academics, what other ways can the school help students grow or become leaders?
Ans. The school has after-school clubs for chess, team leadership, and other activities. These activities encourage students to be creative and take charge.
