Ranked 130 of 143 in Maryland
See top schools in AnnapolisTyler Heights Elementary School, located at 200 Janwall St., Annapolis, Maryland 21403, is a public pre-K through 5 school in the Anne Arundel County Public Schools district, serving around 400–420 students with an exceptionally low student–teacher ratio of about 10:1. About 98% of the students at the school are minorities, with the majority being Hispanic. Being good at schoolwork is a big problem: only about 3% of students are good at math and about 22% are good at reading and language arts, both of which are much lower than the state averages in Maryland. Tyler Heights is still special because it has a dual-language immersion program and new programs to help students learn two languages. Principal Julia Walsh also won a statewide "Connected Leader" award for her leadership skills. Tyler Heights is considered among the best elementary schools in Maryland, fostering inclusion and language development..
