Families and students from the Germantown-Homewood neighborhood got together on National Walk to School Day to talk about their worries about pedestrian safety on West Street, where they say there have been several accidents in the past few years. To keep students safe while they walk to and from school, the community is asking state highway officials to add more safety measures, like bringing back crosswalks and lowering speed limits during school hours.
