Des Moines Public Schools, which includes South Union Elementary School, recently passed a $265 million bond to improve classrooms, add more preschool programs, and start specialty school programs. The district wants to move sixth graders to elementary schools. This shows that they are putting a lot of money into infrastructure and education programs, even though they have to deal with old buildings and fewer students.
