Pleasant Hill Elementary School is a public K–5 school in Des Moines, Iowa. It is part of the Des Moines Independent Community School District. It has about 210 to 220 students and an 11:1 student-teacher ratio, which means that the classes are probably not too big. Pleasant Hill Elementary offers a regular academic curriculum and also has a gifted program to help advanced students grow. The student body is somewhat diverse, with about 45–50% of students coming from minority groups, mostly Hispanic, Black, and multiracial. According to tests given across the state, about 55–59% of students are good at both math and English/language arts. This is a little lower than the Iowa average. The school spends about $15,655 per student, which shows that the district is putting a lot of money into teaching and resources. The school is in a neighborhood with a mix of homes, and the community is known for being welcoming and having strong relationships between teachers and students. Pleasant Hill Elementary School is known for its small class sizes, cultural diversity, and dedication to differentiated learning, even as it tries to improve students' grades.
