The Des Moines Public Schools, which includes Perkins Elementary, is moving forward with a new $265 million "Reimagining Education" plan to update buildings, add specialty career-pathway campuses, and make preschool more accessible. The time frame for putting the bond into effect has been cut down to five years. Voters will decide on the bond this fall, and it will cost homeowners about $200 a year in taxes.
