Pomaikai Elementary School is a public school in Kahului, Hawaii, that serves families in central Maui. It has grades Pre-K through 5. The school has about 580 to 600 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 17:1. This means that the classrooms are a good size, and each student can get individual attention. Pomaikai Elementary School has a diverse student body, with strong representation from Asian, Hispanic/Latino, Pacific Islander, White, and multiracial groups. People know that the school has an arts-integrated learning environment, where creativity is used in everyday lessons to help students stay interested and think critically. Statewide data shows that about 60% of students are good at math and 61% are good at reading and writing, which is higher than the state averages for Hawaii. This evidence shows that the students are doing well in school and that the teachers are using the same methods all the time. The average amount spent on each student is around $15,000. The Kahului area has family-friendly neighborhoods and a lot of support for local schools.
