Being Updated
An incredible milestone is underway as Simonton Elementary School officially prepares to transition into a dedicated Central Gwinnett Cluster for the Arts campus! This exciting change brings a strong arts-infused focus directly into daily student learning. Alongside this program expansion, the campus is celebrating its successful summer KinderCamp sessions, which gave incoming kindergarteners a hands-on introduction to daily schedules, building layouts, and classroom routines.
Q1. What is the "Simonton Stampede," or the school mascot? Ans. The school mascot is the pioneer. They use it for school spirit days on Fridays, and teachers hand out little praise points to kids who show excellent manners or work diligently in class.
Q2. Can I bring birthday treats to my child's classroom? Ans. No, you can't drop off cupcakes or cookies because of kids with serious food allergies. If you want to celebrate, you can pay for ice cream cups from the school cafeteria for the whole class to eat at lunch.
Q3. What do I need to do if my child needs to take medicine at school? Ans. You have to walk the medicine into the school clinic yourself and fill out a permission paper. Kids are never allowed to carry pills, cough drops, or inhalers in their bags.
Q4. Is there an after-school program at the school? Ans. Yes, there is a paid after-school program run right inside the school building. You can pick up a registration packet with prices and hours at the front desk.
Q5. What happens if I need to change how my child arrives home at dismissal? Ans. You must send a written note to your child's teacher that morning. The office cannot take ride changes over the phone in the afternoon because the hallways become too busy at checkout time.
Note: Schedules may change during school holidays. Please contact School for exact Schedule.
