Beacon Hill Middle School unveiled its renovated courtyard during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 14, 2026. The event was attended by City Schools of Decatur administration and Principal Alexis Glenn. The school board approved a $224,590 project that transformed the previously mud-prone area, known as the “Dust Bowl,” into a redesigned outdoor space featuring synthetic turf, cornhole stations, and recreational games. The renovation project improved student outdoor facilities and expanded recreational and gathering areas on campus.
