Augusta Regional Youth Detention Center has officially opened a new $35 million education and housing unit at the facility. Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice held the event to commemorate the grand opening of the recently constructed expansion in Augusta. The project added additional educational and residential space to support daily operations and youth services in the detention center. Facility expansion projects in juvenile justice systems still tend to emphasize infrastructure, access to education, and operational capacity for detained youth populations.
