Lamar-Milledge Elementary is historically one of the Elementary Schools in Georgia, currently it serves students in grades Pre-K to 5. While its roots extend back to the 1930s, today it faces obstacles with academic proficiency of learners. the data from 2022 indicates that only 12% of students were proficient in math and 12% were proficient in reading, Even with the aforementioned challenges, Lamar-Milledge Elementary’s classrooms are small with a student-teacher ratio of 11:1 allowing the child to receive more individualized attention. Each staff member works to close the performance gap through explicit instruction and targeted learning supports. According to families, they appreciate the extracurricular activities and level of parent involvement, as well. With a blend of history, supportive staff members, emotional emphasis on caring for all children, Lamar-Milledge remains a staple in Augusta as a place of education and care.
