William S. Maxey Elementary is continuing to build upon its reputation of being an academically rigorous and tightly-knit campus in the Winter Garden area. Described frequently as a "little treasure", this educational facility has had phenomenal success with regards to educational achievements, but remains true to the community-based philosophy on which it was originally founded. The School is also expanding its current hands-on approach to STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) so that students are provided additional chances to explore these subject areas in more depth.
