Pershing School had an active spring semester, with students running a Jazz Carline Pop Up Concert, K-5 Field Day, and a Spring College and Career Fair that connected students with colleges and technical programs. The school's pre-order yearbook campaign closed in March, covering memories for students in both the elementary and middle school grades at the East Pershing Avenue campus. Pershing also participated in OCPS's Black History Month celebration and the Let's Read reading challenge. With 1,091 students and proficiency scores of 53% in both math and reading above the Florida state average, Pershing School remains one of the more academically stable K-8 campuses in southeast Orlando.

FAQ

Q1. What grades does Pershing School serve?

Ans. Pershing School runs kindergarten through 8th grade on a single campus at 1800 East Pershing Avenue. With 1,091 students, it is one of the larger K-8 campuses in Orange County Public Schools, serving both elementary and middle school students under one roof. This structure means families who enroll early can avoid a middle school transition entirely.

Q2. Does Pershing School have a GATE program?

Ans. Pershing School does offer a Gifted and Talented program through Orange County Public Schools. With proficiency scores of 53% in both math and reading — above the Florida state average — Pershing has a strong academic culture that supports gifted learners at both the elementary and middle school levels. Families should speak with the classroom teacher to begin the fall referral process.

Q3.What extracurricular programs does Pershing School offer?

Ans. Pershing School runs a Jazz Carline Pop Up Concert series, an annual K-5 Field Day, a Spring College and Career Fair open to students across all grade levels, and an annual yearbook covering both elementary and middle school grades. The school's activities calendar is shared with families through ParentSquare each semester.

Q4.How does Pershing School communicate with families?

Ans. Pershing School has a web page, pershingk8.ocps.net, which is updated weekly with upcoming events, important dates, and school news. The main method of communication with families is through ParentSquare.

Q5.What high school do Pershing School graduates attend?

Ans. After completing 8th grade at Pershing School, students transition to an OCPS high school. Boone High School is the primary feeder for the Conway and Pershing Avenue area. Families should plan the high school application process with the school during 7th grade, as some magnet and specialized program applications have early deadlines.
