Being Updated
Metrowest Elementary continued serving its west Orlando residential community through the current school year, with participation in the OCPS Let's Read district challenge and the Black History Month showcase. The school's 50/50 gender split and balanced student population reflect the diverse demographic of the Metrowest area. With 31 teachers and a Gifted and Talented program, the campus supports a range of student needs across its Pre-K through 5th grade span. Families can stay connected through ParentSquare and the official school website. The school's equal male and female enrollment is one of the more distinctive data points among OCPS elementary schools.
Q1. Does Metrowest Elementary have a GATE program?
Ans. Metrowest Elementary does have a Gifted and Talented program through Orange County Public Schools. Families interested in having their child evaluated should speak with the classroom teacher, who starts the referral process. The evaluation cycle opens each fall, so the fall semester is the right time to initiate the conversation.
Q2. What bilingual support does Metrowest Elementary provide?
Ans. Metrowest Elementary serves a student body that includes a significant share of Hispanic students and multilingual families from the broader Metrowest residential area. ELD instruction and bilingual support runs throughout the school day consistent with OCPS district policy, and the school connects families to the OCPS multilingual resource network.
Q3. What extracurricular activities does Metrowest Elementary offer?
Ans. Metrowest Elementary participates in OCPS district-wide enrichment programs and school-year events. Families can contact the school at 1801 Lake Vilma Drive to find out what clubs or after-school activities are currently running and whether there is space available for new students.
Q4. How does Metrowest Elementary communicate with families?
Ans. Metrowest Elementary uses ParentSquare for school-wide communications and the OCPS school directory listing for official contact. The school participates in OCPS's Let's Read district challenge and family engagement events throughout the school year. Families can contact the school during school hours for direct questions.
Q5. What middle school do Metrowest Elementary students attend?
Ans. Metrowest Elementary students typically continue to Gotha Middle School or another OCPS middle school serving the Metrowest area, then on to Freedom High School or Olympia High School. Families should confirm the current feeder assignment with OCPS enrollment, as attendance zone boundaries in the Metrowest area have changed in recent years.
Note: Schedules may change during school holidays. Please contact School for exact Schedule.
