Being Updated
Eccleston Elementary opened the current school year with Principal Mrs. Cicely Marks in her second year of leadership, maintaining her focus on the "Wild About Learning" theme after a strong first year on campus. The school hosted a Black History Month celebration in partnership with the OCPS district-wide "Still I Rise" showcase and ran classroom activities tied to the OCPS Let's Read challenge. Under Mrs. Marks, the school has been actively building a culture where students understand that learning is a process of continuous growth, with staff trained in benchmark-based instruction.
Q1. What is Eccleston Elementary's "Wild About Learning" theme?
Ans. "Wild About Learning" is the school's theme for the current year, chosen by Principal Mrs. Cicely Marks to reflect the belief that learning is about growth and that all students can increase their proficiency over time. It's a school-wide cultural commitment, not just a slogan.
Q2. What after-school care does Eccleston Elementary offer?
Ans. Eccleston Elementary participates in OCPS after-school extended learning programs. Families should contact the school at (407) 296-6420 or reach the front office at 1500 Aaron Avenue to confirm what's currently running and check waitlist status for the semester.
Q3. Does Eccleston Elementary have a GATE program?
Ans. Eccleston Elementary does offer a Gifted and Talented program through Orange County Public Schools. If you believe your child may qualify, the classroom teacher is the right starting point, and the school office can walk you through the referral timeline within OCPS.
Q4. What are the school hours at Eccleston Elementary?
Ans. Eccleston Elementary runs from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. daily. Families should call the school directly to confirm any early release days or minimum day schedules that apply during the current semester.
Q5. What middle school do Eccleston Elementary students typically attend?
Ans. Eccleston Elementary students in Orange County Public Schools typically continue to the middle school serving the Aaron Avenue area and then on to an OCPS high school.
