In February 2026, Florida Power and Light Company picked Manatee Middle School to get a $50,000 STEM Classroom Makeover Grant. Shanna Moss, a science teacher who was named Teacher of Distinction in late 2025, will use the money to buy new science equipment and fix up the school's outdoor STEM lab. The grant helps make classrooms and other learning spaces better so that teachers can do more hands-on science lessons.
