According to an updated report by Duval County, the Long Branch Elementary School is under a consolidation program that the district intends to undertake to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in terms of both enrolment and facilities in the Jacksonville Schools system. The district has announced that Long Branch will eventually consolidate at the R.L. Brown Gifted and Academically Talented Academy, beginning from the 2027/2028 school year. The process is currently undergoing community discussion before proceeding to action. The school still runs its normal activities, but this is amid growing interest owing to its long-term history in the East Side of Jacksonville.
