Abess Park Elementary School has recently received some notice around Duval County for its continuing dedication to learning through enrichment activities, where students are involved in various learning clubs, including science clubs and student media. Abess Park has been recognized by the district as well because it has been identified as one of the schools that have been using new traffic garden safety programs, which aim at educating children on pedestrian safety in a learning setting. Recently, district recognition and teacher nominations have also contributed to Abess Park making news in the greater Jacksonville area.
