Driftwood Middle School and the Miami HEAT held an event on campus to celebrate Earth Day in April 2026. The school won the How Low Can You Go Challenge for using less water and energy. Burnie the mascot and the Hoop Troop joined students and staff. The program had activities that taught kids about the environment and gave out prizes for measurable efforts to save resources at the school.
