Hayward Collegiate Charter is a public charter school in Hollister that teaches students in grades K–8. The school has about 350–400 students and a student–teacher ratio of about 20:1, which is typical for many charter schools in California. Hayward Collegiate Charter uses a college-preparatory teaching style that focuses on reading, writing, and math, as well as structured classroom routines. The curriculum is meant to help students learn more by using data to guide instruction and giving them more time to learn. The majority of students are Hispanic, with more than 80% of them being minorities. A large number of students also qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. About 67% of students are good at math and about 50% are good at English Language Arts. These scores are higher than the averages for many nearby districts. The amount of money spent per student is in line with what charter schools in the area usually get. Hayward Collegiate Charter is in a growing residential area where home prices are lower than in bigger Bay Area cities. It offers families a structured K–8 option that focuses on preparing students for school and measuring their success.

Q1. How do you sign up for Hayward Collegiate Charter?
Ans. During the open enrollment period, families must fill out an application. California charter school law says that if there are more applications than seats, the school must hold a public lottery.
Q2: Do students have to wear uniforms at school?
Ans. Yes, Hayward Collegiate Charter generally has a uniform policy to help students feel like they belong at school, keep things consistent, and create a focused academic environment.
Q3. Do they offer transportation services?
Ans. There may not be many ways to get around, and they are usually based on district rules or family plans. Parents should check with the school office to make sure that their child is still available.
Q4: What kinds of activities are available outside of school?
Ans. Depending on their grade level and what is offered each year, students may be able to join clubs, compete in academic competitions, take on leadership roles, and participate in seasonal enrichment programs.
Q5. What does the school do to help parents get involved?
Ans. The school encourages families to get involved by holding parent meetings, giving parents chances to volunteer, holding workshops, and keeping them up to date on their child's academic progress and school events.
