Being Updated
Wilson Elementary has quietly become the highest-ranked elementary campus in Dinuba Unified on California's Smarter Balanced Assessment, moving from 4,970th in the state in 2014–15 to 2,313th in 2023–24 — a jump of nearly 2,700 spots. Under Principal Mr. Adrian Gutierrez, the school runs its R.I.G.H.T behavior framework school-wide, which the Instagram page actively promotes. The school's English Language Learner students are now ranked 221st out of 3,160 comparable ELL cohorts in California — a figure that rarely gets mentioned but is the most distinctive number on the campus.
Q1. What is the R.I.G.H.T program at Wilson Elementary?
Ans. R.I.G.H.T stands for Respect, Integrity, Growth, Honesty, and Teamwork — the five values that drive Wilson's school-wide PBIS behavior framework. It's not just a poster on the wall. Students earn recognition for living those values in daily interactions, and the framework runs consistently across all grade levels and common areas.
Q2. Does Wilson Elementary offer a Gifted and Talented Education program?
Ans. Yes, Wilson has a GATE program for qualifying students. If you think your child may meet the criteria, the front office is the right first contact — they can walk you through the referral process and what testing looks like within Dinuba Unified.
Q3. What after-school programs are happening at Wilson right now?
Ans. Wilson is involved in the DUSD Expanded Learning Opportunities Program. This program, which takes place after school hours, offers a blend of academic enrichment and student clubs. The offerings change every semester. To find out what's currently being offered, the quickest method is to contact the school office or set up ParentSquare notifications.
Q4. How does Wilson support students who are falling behind academically?
Ans. Wilson has intervention staff built into the school's support structure. Students falling short of grade-level expectations aren't just given after-school help; they're placed in specialized intervention sessions during the school day. This deliberate approach, which prioritizes the progress of every student, is mirrored in the school's steadily rising statewide ranking.
Q5. What is the process for enrolling a new student at Wilson Elementary?
Ans. Enrollment at Dinuba Unified School District is managed by the central office. They determine where students go to school, using their home address and the established attendance zone boundaries. If you're new to the area, the DUSD website, dinuba.k12.ca.us, has up-to-date registration information and the necessary paperwork. The school office at (559) 595-7370 can also confirm whether your address falls within Wilson's assigned zone before you start any paperwork.
