Corning is an agricultural city with a population of approximately 7,700 people in Tehama County, CA, 120 miles north of Sacramento on the I-5. The city covers an area of 4.3 square miles and has a long history in producing olives for California's economy, earning it the nickname "Olive City". Corning Union Elementary School District (CUESD) is the main provider for public elementary schooling in Corning providing four elementary (grade TK-6) schools, an alternative school, and one middle school located in the city. In addition, 2 independent public single-site school districts, Kirkwood Elementary and Richfield Elementary, serve the surrounding rural communities. The school's areas of focus are the FullerSchule method, improved attendance, and adding additional resources to all schools to ensure all students reach their highest potential.
