A number of students from Willow Canyon High School were accepted into West-MEC career-technical programs. This is a big deal for them because they will be getting hands-on training this school year in areas like healthcare, cars, and beauty. The party shows that more and more Wildcats want to get ready for work after graduation by going to school for a trade.
Q1. What is the West-MEC at Willow Canyon High School?
Ans. On the campus of Willow Canyon High School, there is a public career and technical education (CTE) program.
Q2. Who can go to West-MEC – Willow Canyon?
Ans. The program is for high school juniors and seniors from partner school districts.
Q3. Is West-MEC the same as a student's regular high school?
Ans. No, students still go to their home high school while going to West-MEC part-time.
Q4. What kinds of classes can you take at West-MEC – Willow Canyon?
Ans. There are programs in health sciences, IT, engineering, skilled trades, business, and public safety.
Q5. Does West-MEC report scores for math and reading proficiency?
Ans. The student's home high school usually reports their academic proficiency, not West-MEC.
