Monte Sano Elementary has received statewide recognition as one of only 32 Alabama schools to be designated a 2024 CLAS Banner School of Distinction for their Book Buddies program. Monte Sano created history by becoming the first Huntsville City School to receive a perfect 100 on the state report card, which was celebrated at the HCS Galaxy Awards. Students thrive at Monte Sano Elementary through hands-on STEM lessons, Club MSE activities, and engaging field trips. Established in 1959, the school is listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks & Heritage. To the south of campus, the new Tollgate Greenway Trail will provide even more opportunities along with a Charlotte H. Smith grant from Toyota in the amount of $4.2M specifically for STEM programs.
