EPIC Alternative Elementary School has built a reputation as one of the most effective Elementary Schools in Alabama, merging academic success with a vision of equity and opportunity. EPIC serves around 300 students in grades PK–5 and provides a learning environment with a strong diversity of student characteristics, with 97% of students identifying as minority students. EPIC has been chosen as a as a 2024 National Blue Ribbon School, due to its notable progress in closing gaps in achievement and improving student success. Epic Alternative Elementary received the 2024 National Blue Ribbon School Award from the United States Department of Education. This is the school’s second time receiving this honor; the first time being in 1993.
Q1: What's the best way to pick an elementary school for my kid?
A: Think about the classes, programs, after-school stuff, tech access, how safe it is, how good the teachers are, and if it's a good match for how your kid learns and what they like.
Q2: Does Epic Alternative Elementary School have STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) programs?
A: Yep! Kids get into STEM through coding and science projects. This helps them get better at solving problems, thinking for themselves, and being creative.
Q3: Can my child attend a program before or after school?
A: Yes! There are fun extra activities, a place to hang out and supervision. They will get help with homework. This will give working parents can shift their schedules and give their kids the learning support they need.
Q4: What can my kid do for fun after school?
A: Your child can do things like music, art, sports, and join clubs. These are chances to be a leader, work with others, be creative, and grow as a person outside of class.
Q5: What papers do I need to sign up my child?
A: Usually, you'll need their birth certificate, proof you live where you say you do, their shot records, and any old school records, if you have them.
