There are 690 students in grades 6–8, and it has a 16:1 student-teacher ratio. 18% of students are good at math, and 35% are good at reading. The school is in a one-of-a-kind location that makes use of things from the area. The new STEAM labs have the newest tools that help kids learn how to code and make robots. This makes it fun and useful to learn. These partnerships with the community make sure that students can get help and do things after school. Shaw Middle School wants to be one ofthe best middle schools in Washington.
