Detroit, Michigan is a large city in the Midwest along the Detroit River. There are about 620,000 people who live in that area. Detroit has a lot of cultural history, a downtown that has been brought back to life, and a strong sense of community pride. There, families can live in a city that is unlike any other. The Detroit Public Schools Community District is the main school system for kids in middle school in the city. There are also a lot of private, charter, and religious schools. The school systems main goals are to help students do better in school, support diversity, and give students more chances to take part in sports, arts, and STEM programs outside of school. Several middle schools have received National Blue Ribbon awards from the state. Detroit is becoming a better place for families who want their kids to go to a good middle school because of changes to the education system, a lot of school choices, and strong community involvement.
