Waiakea Intermediate School's seventh-grade computer science students served as media consultants in December 2025. The students worked with the County of Hawai?i Department of Environmental Management to design informational websites using coding skills. The project provided the Hilo community with educational resources on recycling practices and sewage infrastructure while giving students applied learning experience.
