About International School

The International School is a public magnet school in Bellevue, Washington, for students in grades 6 through 12. The school has about 400 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 15:1, which means that each student gets personalized and challenging instruction. The Bellevue School District includes the International School. Its curriculum is global and integrated, and it aims to help students develop real-world skills and critical thinking. Students take a core curriculum for seven years that includes international studies, humanities, science, math, French, physical education, and the fine arts. The school has a required weeklong "Focus Week" where students can learn by doing. Activities include trips to the Cascade Mountains to learn about the environment and cooking or disaster preparedness classes. There are Advanced Placement classes, and seniors have to do a big senior project that includes research, getting help from a mentor, doing community service, and being judged by a panel of judges. For the 2025–2026 school year, academic performance shows that about 72% of students are good at math. The International School has a wide range of students and offers a supportive environment that encourages students to explore, learn, and become more aware of the world around them.
