To improve the learning environment for all students, Irmo High School is currently making big changes to its buildings. For example, it is building a new east wing and a modern media center. The school's International Baccalaureate (IB) program is still a big part of how well its students do in school. It has a hard global curriculum that makes students think about things. The athletic department is also doing well, with a number of teams competing at a high level in the seasonal brackets for 2025–2026.
