Dreher High is a public high school in Columbia, South Carolina. It is one of nine high schools in Richland School District One and serves grades 9–12. The school has about 1,200 to 1,300 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 16:1, which allows for both individualized attention for students and academic instruction.Dreher High is known as one of the best schools because it has a college-preparatory curriculum and a wide range of academic options, including Advanced Placement® classes, which 44% of students take. Students can also take college readiness tests like the SAT and ACT to get ready for college and other opportunities after high school.
57% of students are good at math, and 71% are good at reading and English Language Arts. The student body is made up of people from many different backgrounds. 63% of the students are minorities, and all of them are economically disadvantaged. Dreher High School is getting a lot of attention because of its smart students! The school is dedicated to developing musical talent, as shown by the fact that thirteen students from the guitar program were recently chosen for the All-State Guitar Ensemble of the South Carolina Music Educators Association. The school's drama department also did very well. They won the Chapter Select Award at the Palmetto Dramatic Association One Act Competition and represented South Carolina at the International Thespian Festival.
