The Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center has recently upgraded hands-on technical training programs with the purchase of new equipment in several career education labs. Students have participated in industry certifications and work-based learning opportunities aligned to healthcare, construction and information technology pathways. The center also sponsored career exploration activities with local employers and postsecondary institutions to help students explore future career paths.
Q1. Who can attend Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center?
Ans. Students from Greater Johnstown high school and partner districts, usually grades 10-12, but attending their home schools.
Q2. What types of programs does the center offer?
Ans. The Center offers career and technical programs in health care, automotive technology, culinary arts, construction trades, cosmetology, and information technology.
Q3. Will students receive any certificates from these programs?
Ans.Yes, there are many programs that provide industry recognized certifications that can help students get into the workforce or continue on with technical education after graduation.
Q4. What do students do in a day?
Ans. Students attend academic classes at their home school and technical training at the career and technology center.
Q5. Does the school assist students with job placement?
Ans. Yes, the center offers career counseling, internship opportunities and employer outreach to assist students in finding employment after completing their programs.
