About Middle College at GTCC-High Point

Middle College at GTCC–High Point is a public early college high school in High Point, North Carolina. It is run by Guilford County Schools and Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC). The school is for students in grades 9–12, and its main goal is to mix high school and college classes. Enrollment is low, usually fewer than 300 students, which means that there is a low student-to-teacher ratio of about 15:1 or less. This allows for personalized instruction and close academic support. The main goal of the school is to help students finish high school while also earning college credits, which are usually an associate degree or a lot of coursework that can be transferred to another school. Around 64% of students are good at math and about 71% are good at reading (ELA). This is a lot better than what most traditional high schools do. The state and local governments pay for public schools, and the GTCC partnership helps pay for college classes. Most of the time, students focus on college classes and don't follow a traditional SAT-centered path.
