In January 2026, the annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration took place at Governor Thomas Johnson High School. At the event, 70 students from all over the district were honored for being good leaders. The school is also getting ready to host the High School All-County Music Festival later this month, which will give talented singers and musicians a big stage to show off their skills. The campus also recently received national recognition as a Special Olympics Unified Champion School for its commitment to inclusive sports and student leadership.
