About Sound School

The Sound School is a one-of-a-kind public inter-district magnet high school in New Haven, Connecticut, that serves about 340 students in grades 9–12. It is known as one of the best vocational schools and has a special curriculum that focuses on aquaculture and marine trades. It is one of nine high schools in the New Haven School District and has about 11 students for every teacher. 15% of students are taking Advanced Placement courses, and it is one of the best High School in "Connecticut" . The student body is diverse, with 57% of students being minorities and 57% of students coming from low-income families. The Sound School is one of the best schools for hands-on maritime training. It has a 19% math proficiency and a 52% reading proficiency. The school gives students an amazing waterfront campus experience with about $20,344 per student in funding. Its main strengths are its specialized maritime programs and the fact that it promises to give graduates both academic knowledge and real-world sailing skills.
