There are seven high schools in the Bridgeport School District, and Bassick High School is one of them. It is a public high school in Bridgeport, Connecticut, for students in grades 9–12. The school is known as one of the best because it has specialized career academies, such as ones in automotive technology and construction. 28% of students take Advanced Placement classes, which gives them the chance to do so. The student body is very diverse, with 95% of students being minorities and 91% of students being low-income. Bassick High School is one of the best schools for vocational integration, but only 5% of its students are good at math and 7.5% are good at reading, and it is one of the best High School in "Connecticut" . The school has about 14 students for every teacher, which creates a supportive environment focused on getting students back on track with their credits and preparing them for the workforce. Its main strengths are its dedicated teachers and its promise to offer practical, hands-on learning opportunities that help students move smoothly from school to work or college.

Latest News

For the 2025–2026 school year, Bassick High School moved to a $129 million, state-of-the-art building on the University of Bridgeport campus. This new four-story, 205,000-square-foot building has specialized classrooms for aeronautics, automotive engineering, and advanced manufacturing. It also has a new gym and weight room. The campus is getting bigger, and there will be separate fields for soccer, football, and lacrosse. These will be modern spaces for both schoolwork and fun.
