In Torrance, California, South High School is a well-known public school that teaches students in grades 9 through 12. It is one of the best schools in the state, coming in at 137th in California. Recently, South High students stood out in regional academic competitions by doing very well in math and forensic speech. The campus's facilities have been greatly improved, including updated science labs with the newest technology for student-led research projects. The school also started a new program to help the environment. In this program, students lead efforts all over campus to cut down on waste and use green energy.
