In Torrance, California, South High School is a well-known public school that teaches students in grades 9 through 12. It is one of the best schools in the state, coming in at 137th in California. This school is one of the best for academic rigor because it has almost 2,000 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of 25:1. A 62% Advanced Placement participation rate helps students read at a 73% level and do math at a 64% level. There are many different types of people on campus. 73% of the students are from minority groups, and 19% of them come from families with low incomes. South High School works hard to keep its reputation for sending a lot of students to college by organizing college entrance exams like the SAT and ACT. The school is in a neighborhood where homes are worth a lot of money, and the people who live there are very important. People say it's one of the best schools because the academics are great and there are a lot of fun things to do outside of school, and it is one of the best high school in California.

Recently, South High students stood out in regional academic competitions by doing very well in math and forensic speech. The campus's facilities have been greatly improved, including updated science labs with the newest technology for student-led research projects. The school also started a new program to help the environment. In this program, students lead efforts all over campus to cut down on waste and use green energy.
