Academy of the Canyons, located in Santa Clarita, California, is a unique public middle and high school that caters to grades 9–12 within the William S. Hart Union High School District. It has about 400 students and a student-to-teacher ratio of about 25:1. It is known as one of the best schools in the state. The school's dual-enrollment program, which lets students earn college credits while finishing their high school diploma, is one of the best in the country. 73% of the students are from minority groups, and 12% are from low-income families. The academy shows that it has very good academic skills, with a 94% success rate in reading and a 68% success rate in mathematics. Students are ready for college because they take challenging classes and study for the SAT and ACT. The school is in a neighborhood where the average home price is about $800,000. It is known for having a mature campus. Its strengths are its high academic standards and how well it works with college-level learning, and it is one of the best high schools in California.

Academy of the Canyons has been named a 2026 California Distinguished School, which is a very high honor that shows how dedicated the school is to closing achievement gaps and keeping academic standards high. The school's Mock Trial team just won a big competition in the area, and the Science Olympiad kids brought home a lot of medals from their last tournament. Students also recently took part in a very successful "Make-a-Blanket Day" with Project Linus, making 675 blankets for kids in need.
