La Mesa, which means "Jewel of the Hills," is a lively city in San Diego County with about 60,000 people living there. It has a small-town feel and a downtown area that is easy to walk around. People in La Mesa think highly of the high schools there because they always get A grades for academics and college prep. The system puts a lot of emphasis on a balanced curriculum that includes advanced science, performing arts, and sports.
