Carlinville is a small community of about 5,700 residents in Central Illinois that provides a slower pace influenced by local traditions and neighborhood ties that have been around for years. The city has a grounded atmosphere with historic homes, community events and nearby farmland, where residents tend to know one another well. The city may be small, but the presence of a downtown and places for public gatherings maintains a local presence.
Carlinville's high schools appear to have a strong connection to life beyond the classroom. Students are actively involved in school activities that have strong local community support. They stress accountability, teamwork, and slow academic progress. Students are able to develop stronger relationships with teachers and other students.
