Albany County School District #1 runs Velma Linford Elementary School, a public elementary school in Laramie, Wyoming. The school has about 250 to 280 students in Kindergarten through Grade 5, with a good student-to-teacher ratio of 11:1. This lets teachers give each student individual attention and focus on learning in the classroom. The school has a standards-based curriculum that focuses on reading, writing, and math, as well as critical thinking skills. It also includes enrichment programs, technology, and social-emotional learning to help students grow in all areas. About 20–25% of the students are from minority backgrounds, such as Hispanic and multiracial students. This shows that the student body is moderately diverse. According to data from USA News, about 67% of students are good at math and 52% are good at reading and writing. This means that they are good at math but could use some work on their reading and writing skills. Even though the government doesn't release information about how much money each school spends, the amount of money each district gets suggests that they spend more than average on each student.
