Prairie Wind Elementary is a public elementary school in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in a rural area on the edge of town. There are about 443 students in grades K–6 at the school. With about 32 full-time equivalent teachers, Prairie Wind Elementary keeps the student-teacher ratio at 14:1, which allows for personalized attention and small class sizes. There are 47% female students and 53% male students in the school. About 7% of the students are considered economically disadvantaged, which means they come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Prairie Wind Elementary follows the district’s standard curriculum, emphasizing core academic subjects such as literacy and mathematics, while also participating in programs that support early intervention and differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs. The school has a fairly diverse student body, with students from White, Hispanic, and other minority groups. Prairie Wind Elementary is in a safe part of Cheyenne that is close to the city. It offers a structured and supportive learning environment.

We are so excited to announce the name of our new playground! Following a school-wide and Robinson community vote we narrowed a large list of names down to four. Since our students will be using the playground on a daily basis, we gave them the final vote! 476.....

Being Updated
Recently, Prairie Wind Elementary held a very successful "Reading Under the Stars" literacy night. They turned the gym into a cozy campsite with glowing paper stars. Students and their families brought blankets and flashlights to read together. This created a strong sense of community and a love of reading. Students are actively involved in the process, learning about nutrition, the life cycles of plants, and how to be more environmentally friendly. The fruits and vegetables that are picked will be given to a nearby community center, which will teach kids the importance of giving back. The art department is also very busy getting ready for a big spring art show. Students are trying out different art forms, like ceramics and digital art, to make pieces that are inspired by the landscapes of Wyoming.
